Black Panther - released in cinemas today - currently has the best Rotten Tomatoes score of any live-action superhero of all time.

The only reason it can't claim the feat of highest, however, is due to Pixar favourite The Incredibles - they're both tied at 97%.

Its placement means Black Panther is rated better by critics than any other Marvel or DC film including Captain America: Civil War (91%), Iron Man and Christopher Nolan film The Dark Knight (both 94%).

The score, highlighted by The Wrap, is liable to change as more reviews flood in but the fact it boasts such a huge rating after 118 reviews means it's likely to stand firm (three middling reviews dented its perfected 100% score).

Black Panther broke a record before it was even released after selling more advance tickets than any other superhero film, according to Fandango, with expectations that it could smash opening weekend estimates of $90m (£66.8m).

The groundbreaking film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Letitia Wright and Martin Freeman.
