Kraftwerk have been announced as the first headliners of Bluedot festival 2019.

The German electronic music pioneers, who formed in 1970, will top the bill on Saturday 20 July next year when they play the Lovell Stage, at the festival hosted in the grounds of Cheshire's Jodrell Bank Observatory.

Kraftwerk will provide a special 3D performance for their set, which will mark their first ever UK headline festival slot, following a limited number of sell-out UK theatre shows.

The band are considered as the act who directly inspired the synth-pop groups of the Eighties, along with much of the modern music landscape today, from post-punk to techno.

Weekend and day tickets for Bluedot go on sale on Friday 23 November at 10am.

The music, science and cultural event takes place from 18-21 July.
