Miley Cyrus and Stevie Nicks share ‘Midnight Sky’ – ‘Edge of Seventeen' remix

Cyrus originally interpolated ‘Edge of Seventeen’ in the single taken from her forthcoming seventh album

Miley Cyrus and Stevie Nicks have released a remix of Cyrus’s single “Midnight Sky”, which incorporates Nicks’s hit “Edge of Seventeen”.

The collaboration was released this week after Cyrus interpolated the 1982 song in “Midnight Sky”, having cited Nicks as a major influence on her own work.

The intro from “Edge of Seventeen” can be heard on the remix, then Cyrus delivers her verse before being joined by Nicks for the chorus.

Announcing the track, Cyrus tweeted: “Stevie Nicks has always been my idol & an inspiration. It’s an honour to now call her my friend and collaborator. ‘Edge Of Midnight (Midnight Sky Remix)’ out everywhere!”

Nicks wrote from her own Twitter account: “Duet with Miley Cyrus. Magical! Loved singing with her.”

“Midnight Sky” is the lead single from Cyrus’s forthcoming album, Plastic Hearts, scheduled for release on 27 November. It will mark her first studio release since 2017’s Younger Now.  

Cyrus explained her thoughts on the album in an Instagram post, writing: “I began this album over two years ago. Thought I had it all figured out. Not just the record with its songs and sounds but my whole f***ing life.

“But no one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the music’s relevance. Because EVERYTHING had changed.”

She continued: “If it were a chapter in my book I guess I would call it ‘The Beginning’ which usually when something is over we call it ‘The End’. But it was far from that. In triumph and gratitude, I present to you my 7th studio record, Plastic Hearts.”
