The Company

Our client is one of the largest renewable companies in the UK from domestic to large scale commercial in the PV and solar thermal sector.

The Role:

The Role will be to manage a team of technicians to install and deliver domestic & agricultural PV and sole thermal projects. The right candidate will provide structural engineering assessments on the building and help with any solutions. You will be the internal technical support and first point of contact for clients for structural queries.

Job description:

• Carrying out structural surveys and generating reports on condition of buildings and suitability to take additional load of PV or Solar Thermal systems.
• To manage a small team
• Providing designs for cost effective solutions for reinforcement works where required to enable successful installation of PV or Solar Thermal systems on buildings that would otherwise fail.
• Provide structural designs for non-standard PV or Solar Thermal mounting systems
• Preparation of drawings and instructions for installation of non-standard mounting systems.
• Liaison with Building Control, Planning and external consultants.
• Ensure Part A compliance for building mounted PV and Solar Thermal systems.
• Examination of structural calculations and drawings.
• Instructing and liaising with contractors for associated works
• Assisting with ordering of special materials for non-standard installations

Key tasks:
• Chartered with engineering degree in civil or structural discipline.
• 5 Years + experience as a structural engineer
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience of managing a small team
• Knowledge of Building Control and Planning process
• Awareness of health & safety
• Proven ability to take responsibility for projects from design to delivery
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, excel, PowerPoint to produce reports to provide clear information/calculation non-technical clients.
• Driving license
