We are looking for a seasoned media professional with experience of UK and international journalism (preferably within the International NGO sector) and of leading a media function in an issues-led environment to work with broadcast, print and social media engagement, to inspire the UK public and government to take action that transforms the lives of the world’s poorest children. Managing a team you will do this by delivering short-term, reactive and long-term, strategic media opportunities, while representing World Vision’s media risks and opportunities to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the Board. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage 500,000 supporters, breathing life into our brand and delivering innovative media around our policies, campaigns and programmes. Managing World Vision’s reputation and corporate positioning in the public domain will be critical to success in this role. You will enjoy using your media expertise, sector knowledge and relational management skills to provide real and compelling stories of transformation to build the profile of World Vision, its work, policies and values.
To bring the leadership, creativity and influence that we are seeking for this role you are likely to:
· Be educated to degree level with considerable experience in the media industry
· Bring evidence of success in managing and developing a high performing team
· Have a keen eye for a story combined with the ability to reach on and offline media
· Enjoy building effective long-term relationships both internally and externally
· Be fully conversant in the issues facing International Development NGOs;
· Have a passion for applying your professional skills to help children living in poverty.
