Capita Education are currently recruiting on behalf of Northfleet School for Girls based in Gravesend (Kent) for a Teacher of History to start in January 2013.

Northfleet School for Girls is a highly successful and ambitious 11-18 school. This excellent opportunity for a Teacher of History to join a team of specialist subject teachers who have led recent major improvements in their results, this is also an opportunity to develop skills and qualities for future leadership.

History develops students knowledge to make sense of many heritages they inherit and also the skills which to interpret their history critically. This allows students to resist interpretations which filter or distort the record of the past. Throughout, they learn to employ some of the concepts by which historians organise their study of the past, concepts such as continuity and change which are frequently part of our everyday experience, speech and ways of perceiving the world.

Job Purpose:
You will be responsible for facilitating and encouraging learning which enables students to achieve high standards and to share and support the corporate responsibility for the well-being, education and discipline of all students.

Knowledge, Skills & Personal Qualities:
- Must hold QTS Teaching qualification or studying towards a PGCE (NQT Teacher)
- Knowledge and understanding of subject area (History)
- Principles and practices of effective learning and teaching
- Preparation of schemes of work and lessons
- A good role model for behaviours and attitudes
- Strong behavioural management
