My Oxford based client is seeking a payroll officer with experience of working on a payroll implementation or upgrade and exposure to working on a parallel run.

Main Duties

Payroll administrationProcessing of new starters onto the payroll system, checking P45 figures, and ensuring correct tax codes are applied, in accordance with HMRC regulations.
Able to calculate manually PAYE tax deductions and NICs.Entering allowances and deductions onto the system, running Gross to Net and checking that the results are the same as on the original system.

Where results between the two systems are different, investigating these and determining the cause of the discrepancy.

Assurance and controlAn up to date awareness of relevant legislation, including HMRC guidance on PAYE tax matters and any data protection regulations in respect of payroll matters.
