Robert Half Technology is seeking a high-calibre Network Engineering Manager for a leading international business services group in Birmingham. Situated in the UK headquarters, the newly created post is effectively a Global Head of Network Engineering who will have broad responsibility for a ~20 strong Network Engineering team across the UK, EMEA, Asia Pacific.& both North and South America

The Role

The Manager of Network Engineering will be accountable for the implementation of project work from concept to design through implementation assigning appropriate resources to run specific work streams whilst giving them direction or deliver key projects personally ensuring they are in line with global standards. The Network Engineering Manager will also work closely with the Network Services Manager to assist with day to day maintenance and support of all systems in the EMEA region although the primary focus is project based. The Network Engineering Manager will be responsible for the LAN and WAN networks including installation, troubleshooting, problems, resolution, and routine maintenance by assigning team members correctly for swift resolution and to be a focal point of escalation. Key responsibilities:- Engineering of the network infrastructure across the enterprise internationally - Research new technologies and engineer professional solutions for infrastructure related projects- Provide leadership and technical guidance to the Network engineering Team - Liaise with the Operational support teams and other IT departments and be the source of escalation and technical reference for network engineering.- Delivering projects for the network and other IT Infrastructure- Provide accurate and up to date resourcing information of all areas of the team ensuring the workload intake is suitable resourced- Day to day planning of engineering team workload- Ensure that the systems engineering staff are adequately skilled in the areas required to support the systems infrastructure- Take the functional lead on issues related to the role and to ensure that very high standards are achieved/maintained within those specific areas of communications responsibility.- Lead as required on agreed specific issues, or projects and to ensure that services are delivered with the desired outcome being achieved.- Contribute to the activities of the senior IT Management Team to promote the interests of the business, its plans and purpose.- Provide input to global standards focusing on the needs of the global network. - May be required to travel across regionKey requirements: - Substantial experience of Network Engineering management of an enterprise level LAN/WAN in a sizeable, multi-site organisation with a European and/or international footprint.- Demonstrable track record as a proven leader with extensive man-management capability of a team at least 5 people across multiple sites, including managing people on remote sites. - Strong network engineering background with CCNA/CCNP or qualified by experience to the same level- Shall possess proven ability in driving consistent performance enabling timely, quality solutions.- Experience at working both independently and in a team oriented, collaborative environment is essential.- Education level and relevant experience in a similar technical management role,. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when liaising with other IT teams, managers and business divisions.- The ability & willingness to travel internationally as required (quarterly).
