My client is an excellent all age day school for boys and girls who experience severe and complex learning difficulties. They deliver a holistic and comprehensive service to children and young people with special educational needs, which will enable them to develop their full potential. The individual and special educational needs of the children are at the heart of the service they provide.
The building offers a great deal of space for a variety of educational opportunities; it has nine classrooms, designated bases for the following therapies; Speech and Language, Music, Physio and Occupational. Assembly and Sports Hall, two Sensory Rooms (Incorporating Light and Dark Facilities), a soft playroom with a ball pool, Libraries for primary and secondary aged students, Computers with Smartboards in each classroom, a Computer Suite, Food Technology and Practical Rooms, Personal Care Facilities in Upper and Lower School.
My client is currently looking for a long term teacher of ASD/SLD students to begin in February 2013. There is a potential for this job to turn into a permanent role for the right candidate. They are happy to consider CVs from NQTs or those that have just finished their induction but the successful candidate must show both a flair for and a thorough understanding of SEN education and the needs of the children.
The role will centre around teaching a class of students, all of whom have a statement of Special Educational Needs and providing educational and pastoral leadership for the young people therein. The successful candidate will be adept at monitoring, evaluating and reviewing both policy and the effectiveness of practice within the classroom. In addition, they will plan, create and deliver lessons, together with all relevant materials and resources, managing teaching methods and providing support and appropriate guidance to the LSA cohort within the class.
