Accountant for Cambodian Children's Charity (Volunteer)
A volunteer accountant is required for a Cambodian charity which provides practical, long term support to orphans, and other vulnerable children and their families. Their vision is to create sustainable futures for disadvantaged children and impoverished families in Cambodia.
A volunteer is required for 6-8 weeks to strengthen the charity's accounting controls, and help develop and analyse budgets and financials.
1. A residential care programme for 49 trafficked, abused and orphaned children and young adults between the ages of 4 and 24 years of age. The organisation provides them with a safe home, the best healthcare available in Cambodia, an International School education, vocational training placements, as well as nutritious meals and numerous social and extracurricular activities.
2. A Community Centre which supports 60+ local street and slum children. Through the Community Centre the children are provided with remedial literacy and numeracy classes to help make up for their disrupted schooling, English lessons, hygiene education, ‘stranger danger’ education/counseling/support, breakfast and lunch as well as vocational training placements for non-school aged children.
3. The Family Outreach Program which works with ‘at risk’ families and leads them towards financial self sufficiency. The organisation assists families with skills training, small business loans and establishment, land and home acquisition, legal support, family counseling and assistance in gaining employment.
Accounting for International Development (A f I D) arranges customisable voluntary placements tailor-made to fit your availability, skills and preferences. We are now supporting more than 150 NGOs and charities across 28 countries and we desperately need the assistance of more volunteer accountants to coach and mentor some amazing local people.
