An excellent senior level position has opened up within one of Manchester's largest employers of SQL Database specialists. This role is to manage a large team of SQL developers, and would be a balance of project planning, man management and (initially) some hands-on development work. The ideal candidate will come from a development background and will have strong T-SQL experience, but will have spent recent positions employed as a team lead or team manager. Above all, excellent communication skills are a must & the right person for this job will be well organised and a real team-player.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of:
- leading teams of SQL Server professionals
- mentoring and up-skilling junior and other less experienced developers
- solid technical knowledge of SQL Server including
* SSIS / ETL / DTS / SQL Server Integration Services
* SQL database objects (e.g. stored procedures, triggers, views, functions etc)
- project planning
- man management, distributing workloads etc
- hiring new staff and growing a team
The development managers' workload may initially be a balance of man-management, project planning and technical, hands-on development in equal thirds but the plan is to move the manager away from SQL development as soon as possible. The expectation is as the team grows over the next few months, the development managers technical remit should move into a purely inspection and planning/strategic perspective.
This role is well remunerated including a basic salary of up to £50,000 - alongside a very generous benefits package and an industry leading bonus scheme (allowing for up to 35% of salary on top of base; and paying out an average of over 20% for the last 5 years).
