Due to our long running success as the official School Supply service for both Lambeth and Lewisham Borough Councils, we currently need more teachers to help us meet the increasing demands of schools in Southwark who have been recommended to us by their neighbouring boroughs.
The School: We are currently looking for an experienced KS1 teacher for a maternity leave starting in September on behalf of a Church of England primary school in Southwark. The school also has a nursery on site, and was graded "Outstanding" during its most recent Ofsted. The school is proud of its academic achievements, with teachers in KS1 assessed as being above national average, and children performing above the national average in their phonics assessments last summer. They have also recently been a Times Top10 School. The school promotes a strong partnership between home and school, and having strong links with the local church their ethos focuses heavily on Christian community values which staff members are encouraged to uphold in the classroom and teach alongside curriculum subjects.
The Children: Southwark is a highly diverse area, with many schools having pupils from a wide variety of cultural and religious backgrounds. This can lead to a range of ability levels, as well as EAL needs, however the schools have a strong support network of specialist TAs and other resources to assist teachers. Also due to the diverse community within the school, staff are passionate about sharing the value of tolerance with pupils and therefore developing their social skills and confidence with their peers both at school and at home. The pupils can display challenging behaviour due to their varying home lives, so the ideal teachers will be those with strong personalities who have creative and practical methods of classroom management and can deliver inclusive lessons, which make children eager to learn and become more involved in their own learning journeys.
The Job: We are looking for teachers with QTS for this Long Term assignment who can:
- Be able to teach in Reception/EYFS.
- Step confidently into an EYFS teaching role and be up to speed with the new framework, assessments and continuous provision.
- Commit to the position for the duration of the Autumn Term.
- Have relevant up to date experience in UK schools.
- Preferably have knowledge of Phonics Assessments, but this is not essential.
- Ensure effective classroom management in line with schools' behaviour policies.
- Treat every assignment as if it is a permanent role, injecting a sense of purpose into the classroom ad helping the schools continue to have a positive impact on pupils' lives to the best of your ability.
- Provide references to cover the last 12months, as well as be willing to complete a CRB/DBS check alongside other safeguarding checks and requirements.
In reward for our teachers' hard work and commitment we provide competitive rates of pay with no hidden deductions, access to Randstad Education's online CPD portfolio, bespoke CPD courses ran by professionals (often free of charge), long term and permanent job opportunities locally as well as across the UK and internationally, a dedicated consultant with a 24/7 on call facility and a honest and trustworthy approach that matches you to the right school.
