A global financial services company whose clients are top tier banks and trading houses is in search of a Linux Engineer to work in a mixed engineering and production role.

You will be tasked with engineering and supporting Linux based solutions, working to deliver (install/rollout) and maintain the environment. One of the key areas will be focus on improving productivity through automation of processes and tasks as the enterprise environment continues to grow globally. Experience working with developers to deliver solutions is desirable.

Must have: Strong Linux Systems Administration / Engineer experience (Redhat)

Ideally a mixture of the below skills (in order of preference):


  • Puppet, RHN satellite, kickstart and RPM packaging, strong scripting/automation skills/technologies (Bash, Python or Puppet or Chef)
  • Advanced knowledge of Middleware: Httpd, Tomcat, JBoss and ActiveMQ
  • Clustering (Veritas)
  • Virtualisation exposure (VMWare or Xen)
  • Core networking principles and disk management knowledge

  • The ability to be able to efficiently communicate with other departments both locally and globally will be pivotal within this role. This is an excellent opportunity for a genuine Linux Technologist to break into the financial sector as previous financial experience is not a prerequisite for this role, if you already have financial experience, this is the opportunity to work in a technology driven environment with far more freedom to make positive change.
