Teacher of Sociology/Psychology
We have an opportunity for a Permanent Teacher of Sociology/Psychology to work within a highly successful and ambitious secondary school based in Gravesend to start in July/September 2013. You will join a high achieving school which provides a supportive atmosphere where pupils learn to work together in an environment of mutual respect.
You will be responsible for delivering an exciting curriculum and activities programme which allows pupils to explore ideas for themselves and develop independent minds. You will maintain high levels of student achievement through the quality and consistency of teaching and learning and the effective deployment of staff and resources in the Department.
Sociology follows the AQA Sociology syllabus. The areas covered in AS includes, Families and Households, Education and Theory and Methods. In A2 we study Crime and Deviance, Theory and Methods and Mass Media.
Psychology follows the WJEC Psychology syllabus. The areas this covers in AS includes, approaches in psychology (biological, behaviourist, psychodynamic and cognitive) and core studies in Psychology, including that of Milgram and Loftus and Palmer, as well as research methods. In A2 we study Forensic Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Relationships, Controversies, issues in research and research methods.
There is no coursework in Sociology or Psychology, and therefore this course is examination based.
