Due to our long running success as the official School Supply service for both Lambeth and Lewisham Borough Councils we are currently recruiting for a SENCO for one of our Southwark Primary Schools.
The school is a community primary school which prides itself on being a fully inclusive school which is proud of its diversity and cultural harmony. Staff pride themselves on being able to provide each child with an equal opportunity to learn, and enjoy and fully rounded education by offering a mixture of academic and practical lessons. They have made significant progress in helping children with previous challenging behavioural issues enjoy learning again and achieve the expected levels for their ages. The school have also been recognised for their support network and 1:1 work which has allowed pupils with SEN needs to do as well as their peers throughout their school life.
The school has a higher than average number of EAL pupils and does struggle with attendance due to the home circumstances of its pupils. The SMT are looking for an innovative SENCO who can continue the support work and 1:1 scheme which is already in place, as well as lead the way in developing fresh ideas that will continue to improve the school's reputation in the area and encourage pupils' attendance and attainment. The ideal SENCO will work closely not only with SEN pupils, but with those who are struggling to reach minimum targets to help them connect with lessons and start to engage and understand the subjects they are studying. Also due to the demographic many of the EYFS pupils struggle with speech and language upon arriving at the school, and they are looking to a SENCO to create new schemes in order to help these pupils develop their basic skills at a quicker rate which is still meeting national standards.
We are looking for an experienced teacher, preferably with some SEN experience who:
- Can teach in either KS1 or KS2.
- Has developed, or has creative potential to develop, SEN initiatives.
- Is familiar with a variety of assessment and progress criteria.
- Has relevant up to date experience in UK schools.
- Preferably has knowledge of SATs requirements, but this is not essential.
- Ensure effective classroom management in line with schools' behaviour policies.
- Treat every assignment as if it is a permanent role, injecting a sense of purpose into the classroom ad helping the schools continue to have a positive impact on pupils' lives to the best of your ability.
- Provide references to cover the last 12months, as well as be willing to complete a CRB/DBS check alongside other safeguarding checks and requirements.
In reward for our teachers' hard work and commitment we provide competitive rates of pay with no hidden deductions, access to Randstad Education's online CPD portfolio, bespoke CPD courses ran by professionals (often free of charge), long term and permanent job opportunities locally as well as across the UK and internationally, a dedicated consultant with a 24/7 on call facility and a honest and trustworthy approach that matches you to the right school.
