Experienced legal counsel required to work for a private investment company advising in relation to investments in the mining sector.
The successful candidate will provide legal support and risk management assistance in relation to investments and business operations. Required to identify and assess legal and commercial risks in M&A transactions and communicate them to senior management. Responsible for drafting and negotiating a range of mining related contracts, including offtake agreements and will also be heavily involved in compliance matters. Assist the Business Development team in evaluating potential investment opportunities.
The position will be located in London but travel to South America will be frequent.
Salary: £50,000 - £75,000.
Role requirements: Fluent English and Spanish; broad experience of mining law and regulation (including environmental and social issues); Chilean, Colombian, Peruvian or Brazilian legal qualifications; previous experience with top law firm and/or in-house position with top tier mining house; outstanding legal technical capability; knowledge in business development and/or project development; self-motivated, committed, enthusiastic, innovative with the ability to exercise commercial and pragmatic judgement when giving advice; strong communication and interpersonal skills; well-organised.
