Kitchen Support Worker (female applicants only*)

Hope House is a safe, secure and comfortable place for women to recover from substance dependence and receive additional support for other compulsive disorders. Clients will have already undergone detoxification and first stage treatment but are in need of further support to come to terms with problems related to their addiction and help them maintain a substance free life.
Hope House is special in that it's just for women. Many of our clients have a history of difficult relationships and find an all-female environment a supportive place to work through issues and begin to recover. Living with other women in similar situations, they benefit from the care of the counsellors and therapists and the encouragement of their peers.
The Hope House treatment programme lasts 12-24 weeks and is suitable for women aged 18 or over who have undergone detoxification and first stage treatment
We are looking for a kitchen support worker to join our support team.
Your role will include:
- supporting clients with cooking skills, menu planning and nutrition;
- ordering in food and kitchen supplies;
- teaching clients about basic food hygiene;
- maintaining health and safety requirements in the kitchen;
- being responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen.
An NVQ/QCF in a relevant subject such as: health and social care or nutrition would be useful.
Although this job will not involve you cooking, you will need to have enough cooking experience to be able to show clients how to cook. Part of your role will involve cleaning so you need to be prepared to get your hands dirty! You must also be confident with using the internet to order the regular food delivery.

Interviews are planned for mid/end of May with an ideal start date in June. This is a permanent contract.
