Support Workers - Children's Residential
Ranstad Care have a request from our client for a Residential Child Care Practitioner on a permanent basis. The position would involve working with children that display complex emotional and behavioural needs.
The position is based in the Bournemouth area.
Salary 17,000 - £22,000 - depending on experience
Contributing to the normal development of the children and young people. Support of the child through a healthy life style during such activities as appropriate. Need to be aware of the individual's leisure and recreational needs and preferences within the various organisational policies and guidelines. Understanding and listening to children and young people. Talking to the children whilst observing their behaviour, and being able to record significant features. All concerns should be communicated directly to the Registered Manager, with any changes of physical or emotional needs and to be alert for any signs of distress or abuse. Always ensure that children and young people are monitored and protected.
To be involved in the placement planning, participating in reviews and other meetings as and when required. Assisting in the implementation of placement plans to enable the young people to work towards the aims and goals of their individual care plans. Involving the views of the young person. To be able to provide for the individual's physical needs as and when necessary.
Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills. Be flexible ad work as part of a team. Report and document to a high standard. Should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the child and adolescent development and the effects of trauma and abuse. Relevant core social care legislation, guidelines and good practice, safeguarding in residential settings. Have an understanding of working in social care organisations and the sector, care planning experience.
Education to GCSE standard or eqivalent
NVQ 3 in Children and Young People desirable or the commitment to obtain this qualification is essential.
Full UK Driving Licence (clean)
Ability to work shifts covering weekends, evenings and sleep-ins.
Participate in all in-house training.
