We are currently looking for a selection of Nursery Nurses and Teaching Assistants to provide a bank of staff for a variety of Children and Family Centres in Southwark.
The role will involve working along side centre managers and teachers in classes up to 25 children aged 0-6years old.
This is a temporary part time work covering unexpected staff absences; however the centre does have permanent job opportunities that arise from time to time.
You must be up to date with the EYFS framework and learning journeys as when working on activities with children you will be expected to observe their progress against expected levels.

The School: We are currently looking for a selection of Nursery Nurses and Teaching Assistants form a bank of staff to cover unexpected absences at a selection of Children and Family Centres in Southwark. The centres have a strong nurturing environment, and help children the skills they will need to start primary education through free play and structured but fun activities. They also provide a wide range of activities such as sports, music and other opportunities to allow children to be introduced to new experiences and help them to develop basic motor and social skills.
The Children: Southwark is a highly diverse area, with many centres catering for children from a wide variety of cultural and religious backgrounds. This can lead to a range of ability levels, as well as EAL needs, however the centres have a strong support network of specialist TAs and other resources to assist the more severe needs. Some children can display challenging behaviour due to their varying home lives, so the ideal assistants will be those with strong personalities who have creative and practical methods of classroom management and can deliver inclusive lessons, which make children eager to learn and become more involved in their own learning journeys.
The Job: We are looking for Nursery Nurses and Teaching Assistant who can:
- Work confidently in an EYFS setting.
- Have easily reachable transport connections to arrive at centres as quickly as possible when emergencies arise.
- Have relevant up to date experience in UK schools or nurseries.
- Ensure effective classroom management in line with centres' behaviour policies.
- Treat every assignment as if it is a permanent role, injecting a sense of purpose into the classroom ad helping the schools continue to have a positive impact on pupils' lives to the best of your ability.
- Provide references to cover the last 12months, as well as be willing to complete a CRB/DBS check alongside other safeguarding checks and requirements.
