This is a temporary part time work covering unexpected staff absences; however the centre does have permanent job opportunities that arise from time to time.
You must hold relevant Food Safety Qualifications and be up to date in Health and Safety Procedures. A chef background is also advantageous.

Due to our long running success as the official School Supply service for both Lambeth and Lewisham Borough Councils, we currently need more teachers to help us meet the increasing demands of schools in Southwark who have been recommended to us by their neighbouring boroughs.
The School: We are currently looking for a selection of Nursery Cooks and Chefs to form a bank of staff to cover unexpected absences at a selection of Children and Family Centres in Southwark. The centres have a strong nurturing environment, and help children the skills they will need to start primary education through free play and structured but fun activities. They also provide a wide range of activities such as sports, music and other opportunities to allow children to be introduced to new experiences and help them to develop basic motor and social skills.
The Children: Southwark is a highly diverse area, with many centres catering for children from a wide variety of cultural and religious backgrounds. This can lead to a range of ability levels, as well as EAL needs, however the centres have a strong support network of specialist TAs and other resources to assist the more severe needs. Some children can display challenging behaviour due to their varying home lives, so the ideal assistants will be those with strong personalities who have creative and practical methods of classroom management and can deliver inclusive lessons, which make children eager to learn and become more involved in their own learning journeys.
The Job: We are looking for Nursery Chefs and Cooks who can:
- Work confidently in an EYFS setting.
- Have easily reachable transport connections to arrive at centres as quickly as possible when emergencies arise.
- Have relevant up to date Food Hygiene and Preparation qualifications.
- Can work to structured menus based on nutritional value.
- Can manage up to two other colleagues to ensure a smooth running kitchen.
- Treat every assignment as if it is a permanent role, injecting a sense of purpose into the classroom ad helping the schools continue to have a positive impact on pupils' lives to the best of your ability.
- Provide references to cover the last 12months, as well as be willing to complete a CRB/DBS check alongside other safeguarding checks and requirements.
In reward for our teachers' hard work and commitment we provide competitive rates of pay with no hidden deductions, access to Randstad Education's online CPD portfolio, bespoke CPD courses ran by professionals (often free of charge), long term and permanent job opportunities locally as well as across the UK and internationally, a dedicated consultant with a 24/7 on call facility and a honest and trustworthy approach that matches you to the right school.
