The successful applicant will perform the duties of a classroom teacher and form tutor as described in the generic job description. He/she will work under the direction of the HOD to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning in the subject are achieved at the Key Stage. He/she will carry the responsibilities descried below in relation to the teaching of the identified subject and Key Stage.
-One of our client secondary schools in reading is looking for KS4 Co-ordinator to work on a permanent basis in September 2013.
-The school is based on the outskirts of Reading in a small village, with 800+ pupils.
-To lead subject teachers in the development of schemes of work for the Key Stage and ensure that these are regularly reviewed.
-To lead the development of good practice in the teaching of subject teachers at the Key Stage
-Lead the development of resources to support high quality learning at the Key Stage
-Maintain an awareness of local and national developments and ensure that the department fully complies with national requirements for the Key Stage
-To maintain an awareness of available courses and advise on the suitability of these to meet the needs of students
-To develop new courses at the Key Stage as identified by the HOD
-Monitor, using target and current performance grades, the progress of students at the Key Stage.
-Take appropriate action to address underachievement of individual students
Where relevant to:
-Allocate students to teaching groups within the flexibility offered by the timetable
-Organise the regular assessment of all students in the key stage and reset classes as necessary to maintain the appropriate level of teaching for all students.
-Identify target groups of students at critical grade or level boundaries or who are underachieving and plan an intervention programme to meet their needs
-Work with the examinations officer to enter students for their appropriate end of key stage assessments ensuring each individual is entered at the level which gives the greatest opportunity to achieve his or her potential.
Resources and administration
-Monitor existing resources and identify resourcing needs of the key stage.
-Organise the availability of resources for teaching at the Key Stage
-Monitor and maintain past examination paper resources and solutions for staff and students to ensure appropriate revision and practice is undertaken at the appropriate time.
