The Job
If you are passionate about teaching and learning and want to make a real difference to the opportunities of our students then this is the opportunity for you.
A fantastic opportunity for a teacher of English in a strong department within a successful and oversubscribed school. The English Department provides a stimulating, well-balanced and inclusive curriculum which is designed to allow all pupils to maximise their potential. Lessons involve a wide variety of learning styles employed by a highly professional and hard-working team of teachers. During Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four students study a range of plays, novels, poetry, non-fiction and media texts and take part in many Speaking and Listening activities. Progress of students is closely monitored and assessed to ensure that all pupils achieve their potential. The Department has a wide range of excellent modern resources which it utilises to make English an exciting and enjoyable experience. We recognise the importance of literacy to all our pupils and we make it our goal to make sure that all our pupils are given the chance to succeed. The post will be teaching KS3 and GCSE classes. The school is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher than can inspire and engage.
Clearly all candidates must be either NQT or have Qualified Teacher Status.

The School
This larger than average secondary school is requiring improvement from its last Ofsted inspection and is now working in partnership with DEFES, driving forward to achieve 'good' in the near future. The new senior leadership team welcome all teaching staff whether temporary or permanent. The school operate clear expectations for all staff and all students with a transparent discipline and rewards system and bespoke CPD programme to support you within an open management and appraisal structure for staff.

The English department have continued its proud record in pupil progress and are ready to adapt the skills and strengths a new candidate would bring as part of exciting team.

The Child
The school thrives in an area of social and economic disadvantage and the proportion of students eligible for free school meals is twice the national figure. Students with learning difficulties and or with a statement of special educational are supported in their learning through individual learning plans within mainstream teaching, in class support or personalised intervention. The ideal candidate would have experience of teaching SEN students in a mainstream environment and a passion for supporting and encouraging students through a whole child approach.
