The Green Recruitment Company is pleased to represent one of the top engineering consultancies, serving public agencies and the private sector around the world in their search for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer. The company is a leading engineering, construction and technical service provider to oil & gas, government, infrastructure, industrial and power projects. The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will be based in their Scotland office in Glasgow and will provide support to the growing number of projects they are currently involved in.


The Role:

Due to an increase in workload our client is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to be based in their Glasgow office. You will be required to undertake geotechnical design work for a range of interesting projects throughout the UK with the option of overseas work also. Projects will be largely in the highways, energy, water, maritime, land development and building sectors. As part of the role you will be expected to support, supervise and assess junior members of the team whilst supporting the higher management in managing projects as well as supporting business development. A large part of the role will involve providing technical input and liaising with non-technical clients and contractors.


Experience and skills:


The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will need to have;
• A degree in Civil Engineering
• A Masters in Geotechnical Engineering or Soil Mechanics (or similar)
• A commitment to your personal and professional development
• Chartered (or working towards)
• Proof of working towards membership of an appropriate professional institution
• Understanding of H&S requirements related to geotechnical engineering
• Fundamental appreciation of how to manage ground risk at every stage of a project.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Geotechnics
• Experience of project management
• Experience in a supervisory capacity
• Knowledge of retaining structure design
• Knowledge/experience of slop stability analysis
• Strong track record in managing time and fee
• Basic knowledge in contaminated land assessments (Preferred)
