Java Technical Lead - Settlements - 90k

My client is looking to hire a highly motivated, experienced Senior Software Developer within the Operations IT area, to play a key role in the development of the platform. The candidate will design, develop and support the platform. You should be a self-starter, with the ability to take ownership of work through to completion.

The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Full System Development Lifecycle
  • Technical design and development of applications
  • Assist with requirements gathering.
  • Design components of new or existing applications.
  • Implement, test and deploy new/existing applications.
  • Perform maintenance and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Support of new and existing applications.
As a technical lead, additional responsibilities include;

  • Technical/application assessments for projects in terms of feasibility, effort, risk, and ensure the new solution works seamlessly with existing applications.
  • Participate in project quality management tasks such as peer and quality reviews of specifications and design documents.
  • Provide technical direction to development and implementation teams for solution realisation.
  • Contribute to the development of high quality IT solutions and take ownership for complete delivery.
  • Work in a globally distributed team located in different regions/time zones.
  • Can juggle multiple streams of work, without losing sight of any one, and able to prioritise work accordingly.
  • Able to work under periods of intense pressure and maintain clear decision making ability.
  • Needs to demonstrate excellent problem-solving ability.
We require very strong development skills across Java, JEE, Spring, Sybase, XML, MQ, JMS and UNIX, with experience of tools such as Subversion, JIRA, JUnit and FitNesse.

Additional experience in Design patterns, continuous integration and XSLT would be advantageous.
