Our client is a highly successful industry leading technology Digital Agency in London. They are currently seeking a talented Web Software Engineer - Front End Developer
Sometimes you will be working as part of a large multidisciplinary team (not just engineers), other times as the sole engineer on a project. Either way, they value individuals who are passionate, opinionated, and articulate in front of colleagues and clients. Everybody at this organisation is client-facing so you might need to iron a shirt from time to time.All of their projects are built responsively by default, so you must have extensive experience of responsive workflow for medium to large websites. There not in the business of pushing every pixel in Photoshop, so you'll be working intimately with UX and design folk to define breakpoint states, markup patterns and maintaining a living style guide in the browser. You won't be afraid to suggest design changes yourself. A passion for precision, typography and robust user experience is essential.
We understand not everyone will tick all of these boxes but hopefully the majority.
- HTML 4.01 and HTML5
- You can explain the finer points of how markup choices can affect both SEO and accessibility jQuery
- think about CSS in terms of namespaces, objects and modifiers, and you can show SASS code to prove it
- A public Github/Launchpad/SourceForge account or blog with evidence of contributions to projects
THE IDEAL CANDIDATEAlthough you probably won't be expected to do any back-end development yourself, you will have an appreciation of databases, frameworks and content management. You'll most likely be working with Ruby on Rails or Sitecore CMS environments, so experience of either is a bonus, but familiarity with at least one MVC framework is essential. Not everything has a GUI, so you'll be expected to be familiar with the command line (bonus points for using bundler, grunt, yeoman etc.) as well as feature branching using git.
