The successful applicant will be responsible for the teaching and learning of her own classes and will perform the duties of a Female PE TEacher. He/she will ensure that school policy is implemented within the department and will set and maintain high standards of work and behaviour for pupils, informing parents of progress and concerns. He/she will be responsible for high standards of attainment by students in external assessments.
-One of our client secondary schools in Reading is looking for an Female PE Teacher to work on a 1 year contract to cover maternity from September 2013 up until July 2014.
-The school is based on the outskirts of Reading in a small village, with 800+ pupils.
Departmental Planning and Policy
-Implement the school aims and whole-school policies
-Contribute to School Improvement Planning by developing and following a Department Development Plan
-Produce a department handbook following school guidelines
-Carry out an annual review of departmental progress
-Develop an appropriate range of Physical Education-related courses consistent with the school's commitment to a balanced programme of traditional and vocational courses.
-Maintain appropriate schemes of work
-Develop good practice to comply with health and safety regulations
-Comply with National Curriculum and other statutory requirements relating to the department
-Use pupil progress data as a tool to raise standards: analyse performance data at the end of each key stage; identify strengths and weaknesses in the department's performance; use the results to inform department development planning and to set targets for end of Key Stage performance for individual pupils and for the department
-Develop department policy on grouping and allocate students to classes
-Deploy department staff in order to maximise student progress
-To follow school policy on department evaluation and self review
Teaching and Learning
-Implement a clear policy for marking students' work with periodic moderation to ensure consistency
-Ensure regular setting of homework in line with school policy, monitoring the quality of work set and pupil response
-Develop a range of appropriate teaching strategies including those needed for effective differentiation
-Set and maintain standards of work and behaviour within the department
-Support teachers in discipline of pupils
-Ensure use of proper channels of referral for problems arising within the subject area
-Ensure departmental procedures for praise and reward of pupils
-Liaise with pastoral heads on concerns regarding pupils
