The Green Recruitment Company is working with one of the leader in development of offshore wind.


The Role:


Our client is looking for a Senior Environmental/Ornithology Advisor with a strong background in ornithology to support the EIA, Zone Appraisal Planning, stakeholder consultation process and planning applications to the Planning Inspectorate. The successful candidate will report to the Consents Manager to ensure that projects are delivered with minimum impact for the environment and stakeholders.


The responsibilities of the role:


• Provision of strategic advice in relation to ornithology issues for offshore wind farm
• Oversee the production of all ornithology surveys and EIAs for the submission of planning applications
• Liaison with ornithology stakeholders and regulators throughout development phase
• Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant UK and EU legislation in relation to ornithology
• Close communication with partners and colleagues finance, property, engineering or H&S to ensure projects are designed to meet optimum productivity
• Ensuring health and safety regulations and policies are met in undertaking all surveys
• Regular reporting to Environment and Consents Manager as well as CEO
• Support the identification of future projects
• Work with all Ambassadors to drive innovation and deliver a targeted and benchmarked cost reduction strategy across company’s portfolio of projects


Experience and skills:


• A relevant degree and at least 5 years’ experience working in offshore ornithology
• Excellent negotiation skills with stakeholders and national regulators
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a team, coordinate and motivate others
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good IT skills, including experience with MS Word, Excel and Project packages
• An organised approach to working, task prioritisation and time management
