We are currently looking for a DW Business Analyst to join our client's data warehouse team. The data warehouse implementation is very advanced; the system captures, translates and rolls up data in near to real time.

Reporting to the Data Warehousing Manager, the DW Business Analyst is responsible for investigating and understanding customer needs and translating them into clear requirements for the development team. The role also involves a significant amount of data analysis. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and comfortable talking with business users of all levels, with a passion for data and solving problems.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their skills in capturing and documenting requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and document business processes and source system databases and define the data to be replicated to the data warehouse
  • Design dimensional model solutions and define the transformation mappings
  • Translate business requirements into well-defined user stories for development
  • Analyse data in order to resolve data quality issues
  • Manage relationships with product development teams, BI team and other stakeholders
  • Day to day analysis and management of change requests

Required:

  • Good understanding of core Kimball dimensional modelling concepts.
  • Extensive prior experience as a business analyst in a data warehouse project or business intelligence team
  • Highly experienced in writing SQL (preferably PL-SQL) queries for reporting or data analysis
  • Excellent problem solving skills; able to find the root cause of an issue quickly
  • Well-organized; able to keep track of and prioritise multiple threads of work
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken

Desirable:

  • Exposure to Agile and Scrum methodology
  • Understanding of advanced SQL concepts, such as table partitioning and analytic functions
