A technically focused Linux Service Engineer - (UNIX, Linux, Systems Administrator) is required for a hugely successful Hedge Fund based in the City. The Linux Service Engineer - (UNIX, Linux, Systems Administrator) will be responsible for the application components that are internally developed and will be responsible for individual aspects of site operations ranging from systems architecture to application development and monitoring.

The Linux Service Engineer - (UNIX, Linux, Systems Administrator) will work closely with development, QE and Operations teams to ensure that the business runs as smoothly as possible. You will be responsible for the top-to-bottom availability and reliability of the application services and for building and maintaining systems. You will also be required to be a part of an on-call rotation to ensure incidents are handled as best as possible.

In order to be considered for the role of the Linux Service Engineer - (UNIX, Linux, Systems Administrator) the following is important:

- At least 4 years' worth of UNIX/Linux System Administration experience or software development experience (essential)

- Solid experience of deploying mission critical UNIX servers in a 24/7 environment and having the ability to work within a faster than fast paced environment (essential)

- Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP and networking technologies (important)

- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, C, C++, Perl etc (desired)

- A technical degree (Computer Science, Maths, Physics etc) (desired)
