The Job

We are looking for an English Specialist to provide teaching across the English curriculum at an outstanding level, who is based around the Durham City area. The client is looking for a teacher who can be flexible to teach to varying age groups ranging across Key Stages 3 & 4, with experience in providing Media Studies in English a desired attribute. You will be expected to provide full-time teaching in the school on a temporary basis with a contract lasting 6 months, and a potential to work for a further 6 months after this period.

The Child

The children will be aged 11-16 studying in Key Stages 3 & 4 in which they will be building up to, or studying towards their GCSE's, with many pupils predicted to be set to attain the best results yet for the school Therefore a teacher with excellent skills in pupil engagement along with the ability to drive levels of attainment is a must have requirement. The children come from affluent areas, with a high intake travelling large distances to get to school daily, and there is a high percentage of children who require guidance from a teacher with strong behaviour management skills due to classroom behaviour issues.

The School

The client is a large Secondary school in the Durham area in which there focus is to not only develop their academic and non-academic talents through the integration of a supportive, diverse school community and a key focus on innovative learning. Extra-curricular activities based on the curriculum provide a large part of school life, in which the school outlines its approach to not just teach a subject but create a passion in their pupils. Many children begin their education in their Primary school, going on to pass through their Secondary and Sixth Form College, therefore the school community is a major focus that any teacher must transition into.
