Exciting Maths teacher opportunity
We are seeking a creative and inspiring Secondary Teacher of Maths for a school based in Hammersmith to start in January 2014. This all-ability secondary school expects every pupil to transfer to the Sixth Form and go on to a good university. We take children from all backgrounds and give them the confidence and ambition to succeed in a competitive world.
Their core belief is that every child is entitled to a classical liberal education, no matter what their background or ability. Of the 360 children in Years 7 to 9, 17% have special educational needs, 23% are on free school meals and up to 40% have English as an additional language, yet they've proved eminently capable of tackling an academically demanding curriculum based on traditional subjects. Sport, music and art are integral to school life, with two thirds of pupils learning a musical instrument. The vision is of a comprehensive grammar school - that is, a school that combines the rigour and standards of an old fashioned grammar with a genuinely comprehensive intake.
Due to the outstanding performance of the last two years, they are already the most oversubscribed state secondary in the borough with 10 applicants for every place.
The successful candidate will:
* have an outstanding track record of teaching and outcomes for pupils
* be passionate about their subject and inspire pupils
* be committed to a rigorous, knowledge-based curriculum
* offer a substantial commitment to extra-curricular activities
* have strong IT skills
This exciting opportunity that is open to both newly qualified (NQT's) and experienced Math's teachers. If you want to have the freedom to express yourself and challenge your teaching ethos, this school can offer you a brilliant career.
