Technical Author with experience of authoring contingency documents, working with Business Optix and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 required for an on-going review of planning arrangements within a large change and transformation programme.

As a Technical Author, you will take responsibility for updating and existing technical document to an improved format using a template supplied by the Programme Manager.

Principal Accountabilities

The Technical Author will be responsible for:

  • Understanding the scope, technology and applications for which the documentation if to be prepared
  • Writing, editing and proofreading text
  • Collating and verifying information
  • Organising information according to the project needs
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop the technical requirements
  • Liaising with other staff and managers as necessary
  • Editing and updating existing pictures and diagrams (supplied by the client)

Key skills and Qualifications required

The suitable candidate will be expected to have:

  • Experience of authoring contingency documents
  • The ability and enthusiasm to review, understand, document, and convey technical and sometimes complex material in a logical, coherent and effective manner and in language understood by the end user
  • Excellent written English and strong communication skills
  • An eye for detail

Additionally, it would be preferable if the candidate also has:

  • A degree in a scientific, computing, technical or engineering discipline
  • A working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act
  • Experience of working with Business Optix
