Software Engineer in Test / QA Developer / Middleware Automation Engineer

Central London (Holborn)

6 month initial contract

£350 - £450 per day

PCR is working exclusively with a new dynamic software services company based in central London. They are backed by one of the world's most famous global media services brands. The company is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Engineer in Test or Automation Engineer to work with a Java development team and be responsible for the test automation of the server infrastructure (middleware) in a multi-tier environment.

You should have Command Line Tools experience together with Automated Testing and Unix Shell Scripting with Python or Bash experience. This is required for this role in which you will be responsible for deriving functional and performance test cases from requirements and proactive discussions with key stakeholders from the business and technical teams.

You will implement and execute test cases and repeatable test scripts for scalable systems architectures written in Java with CORBA, and web based UI. You will be required to analyse the test results in order to create reports and log files.

You must be able to demonstrate an experienced understanding of middleware and n-tier scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities -

To work with the developers and promote the use of automated testing tools where appropriateDrive automation and related practices to ensure good test coverageRecommend and implement suitable testing frameworksRepresent testing best practice within their team and able to be pragmatic in their use of agile techniquesManage test deliverables as part of an iterative approachSupport a Test Driven Development approach where appropriateEnsure that an automated approach is used at all practical levelsBe proactive in developing and maintaining standards and tools to support the development activityContribute to the management of the defect lifecycle and assist in prioritising and resolving defectsEnsure overall defect levels and trends are visible for the team and other interested partiesTo work with the team to remove blocks to testing

Candidate Requirements

At least 5 years' experience of working on large scale agile projectsProven experience automating n-tier and middleware servers in a multi-tier environmentExperience of REST and API'sActive MQ and JMSExperience working with 3rd party toolsUnix Shell Scripting with Bash and/or Python scripting abilitiesJava programming with CORBAExperience of using Agile approaches such as iterative delivery and User StoriesExperience working in an environment with multiple work streamsUnderstanding of different approaches to fit with a Continuous Integration development environmentExperience of a range of Test Management and automation tools, such as Neo Load, JMeter and Selenium Webdriver.Strong technical background, including expertise in command line tools and shell scriptingAutomated test scripting experience and log file analysis
