If you have skills and experience in social media and PR, graphic design or permaculture and would like to apply them in a business context whilst helping with the effort of preserving South Africa’s natural beauty, then Kaya Volunteer offer you the chance to join our internship programs.
The NGO works with the aim of combating climate change and by taking the green initiative into communities and schools, it hopes to harness the help of the residents of Cape Town in tree planting and reforestation. Eco education is also a big part of the project and interns will find themselves working with children and adults from surrounding communities, spreading enthusiasm for the cause.
Even though the project only started in September 2010 it has already been responsible for the planting of over 18,000 trees in over 200 beneficiary schools, as well as deforested areas. This amazing achievement has spurred them on and they would like the help to do this on a bigger scale. PR and graphic design interns work with local staff to develop promotional materials, find outlets for information, design innovative new campaigns and more. If permaculture is your forte, use your knowledge to teach communities, either in workshops or outreach programs as well as helping to maintain the tree and vegetable nurseries.
Intern roles will vary and a full CV/resume will be requested upon application to assess your suitability for the programme. Documentation will be required to support your application including a letter of motivation. You will be asked to attend a telephone interview, as there is a selection process for this placement.
For more information, please make an application and we will get in touch to discuss your options.
