Low wages and high unemployment in developing countries means that families and children often do not get appropriate, nutritional meals that encourage growth and development. Part of this is a lack of adequate education on how to manage budgets and nutritional values required.
Volunteers working on these placements can share their knowledge of dietary requirements and create educational materials and meal ideas for the community that they can reproduce over and over again using local produce.
By sharing something so simple, your work can make a huge difference to the lives of families of children alike, who struggle to survive in the conditions of poverty. Work on these projects is a great way to expand volunteers experience and knowledge of nutritional issues internationally.
Volunteers can work in four locations; Philippines, Bolivia, Costa Rica and Peru. There are no specific qualifications required, but experience or study background in the area of nutrition or dietetics would be extremely useful. Project fees include; Accommodation, airport pick ups, food, orientation and 24h support.
