Our client is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country providing healthcare to over one million patients per year. Employing approximately 9000 members of staff the organisation comprises five hospitals: St Mary’s, Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea, and the Western Eye with an annual turnover of almost £1billion.
This is a paid internship. Salary: £1,000 - £1,500 per month
How can you expect to spend your day?

The primary purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the annual staff awards ceremony, which is held in July. The event is a gala dinner in a top London hotel for 280 members of staff to celebrate their hard work and achievements.

This role sits in the Events Team with daily tasks including:
•Arranging for nominees and their managers to be filmed for the DVD to be shown at the ceremony.
•Supervising filming of the nominees for the DVD.
•Interviewing managers about the nominees for the DVD.
•Writing text about the nominees for the awards brochure to be distributed at the ceremony.
•Sourcing prizes for the raffle from their suppliers.
•Selecting music to be played at the ceremony when each award is announced.
•Drafting evaluation forms to be distributed to guests for feedback.
•Inputting the results of the evaluation forms into Excel.
•Writing a report on the success of the event and lessons learned using the results from feedback forms.
•Inputting all invoices associated with the ceremony onto the Trust’s procurement system and Excel spread sheets,
•Sending invitations and managing RSVPs.
•Arranging the staff ballot for extra tickets.
•Booking taxis.

In addition to the above, you will support the wider communications department in the following areas:
•Internal communications.
•PR and media relations.
•Digital media.
•Public affairs.
•Marketing outreach.

You may have the opportunity to get involved in some or all of the following:
•Writing stories for the intranet and staff newspaper and writing press releases.
•Updating social media channels.
•Taking photographs.

Skills you can expect to gain:

The ideal intern’s personality and qualifications:

•It is essential the intern has exceptional copy writing and editing skills as they will be producing content for the awards brochure and making contributions to the internal and external communications channels such as the daily e-bulletin to all staff and Trust Newspaper.
•A good working knowledge of Excel is desired in order to input and update the event project plan and invoice tracking records.
•An undergraduate degree is essential and postgraduate qualification is desired. A background in PR or communications would be a strong advantage.
•An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills. These characteristics will be essential when interviewing staff and managers for the awards brochure and DVD.
•Very organised and have a good eye for detail given the many facets of this large scale event.
•Confidence in utilising multimedia channels such as social media, film and photography would be an advantage.
