This is a graduate job based in Oldham. Salary: £13,500.

Key responsibilities of the role:

As a Trainee Accounts Clerk, you will gain experience in a variety of duties within the accounts departments including credit control and assisting with the effective and efficient running of the sales and purchase ledgers. You will also work with accounts team to ensure that accurate administration and data entry is carried out in timely manner.

Day-to-day activities will include:

•Issuing sales invoices to customers on a daily weekly and monthly basis.
•Maintaining up-to-date spreadsheets and reports of payment terms, applicable rebates and discounts.
•Contacting customers via email, phone and letter to ensure all debts are settled in a timely manner.
•Assisting with the production of customer schedules for a number of accounts for review with the Finance Director at weekly meeting.
•Maintain up to date spreadsheet of fines & contributions and process all relating paperwork to entry on the purchase ledger.
•Ensure that the new customer set-up process is adhered to on Sage system.
•Completing accurate and efficient data entry and various administrative duties.
•Answer any staff queries in relation to sales invoices or accounts procedures.
•Ensure all files are accurately and diligently maintained including up-to-date terms and conditions.
•Assist in ad hoc duties as required by the Management Accountants and/or Supervisors.

Key candidate requirements for the role:

•You are educated to graduate level in a relevant subject such as accounts or finance.
•You must have strong communication skills.
•At least 6 months’ work experience, ideally within a similar environment.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•You are well-organised, hardworking and reliable.
•The ideal candidate is tenacious and strong minded.
•Strong skills in IT, especially Microsoft Excel.
•Adaptable with a “do what it takes” mentality to completing job tasks to set deadlines.
