Workplace is Newham’s one stop shop Job Brokerage which was established in 2007 to support Newham residents into work and to offer a free, professional recruitment service to London-wide employers. Further information is available on www.newhamworkplace.co.uk

To date, we have placed over 20,000 Newham residents into employment and we are currently working to support up to 5,000 residents into work this year.  To continue this success we are seeking to recruit individuals who are focussed on delivering a quality employment programme with challenging weekly targets in a performance-driven environment.

The Job

Personal Advisors will manage a caseload of Newham-based jobseekers and support them into work.  They will work to very challenging targets of placing 120 residents into work each year.

They will thoroughly prepare and target jobseekers to apply for roles across a wide range of positions (mainly entry-level) and maintain a candidate “talent pool” of applicants who will be suitable for future positions.

The successful applicants will be tenacious with the ability to inspire and motivate individuals to help them secure the necessary skills and confidence for work, and match them to appropriate job opportunities.

Significant experience of supporting employed and unemployed people into employment is required.

Candidates will be required to have significant experience of the following:

  • Effectively managing a large caseload of unemployed jobseekers in order to create a pipeline of job-ready candidates who can be submitted at short notice for live job opportunities.
  • Advising unemployed people on ways in which they can improve their employability skills to make themselves more attractive to employers.
  • Coaching and motivating unemployed people to identify and work on their strengths, weaknesses, training needs and skills gaps.

We are not accepting applications from previous candidates who have applied for this post within the last 6 months.
