Many of these NGO’s require the assistance of volunteers with skills in a wide variety of areas to help to put in place an infrastructure to run well-structured projects, liaise with donors, and to market themselves effectively.
Many NGOs are set up by people with the right motivation who are fully aware of what’s needed, but they do not have all the skills and funds necessary to make them a success.
As each project has different needs, all placements for skilled volunteers will be set up and tailored to your skills and experience, once the needs have been established. International volunteers can help by coming with new ideas and implementing them through workshops and training of the local staff, to allow your ideas to continue after your placement is over.
For the vast majority of projects, your role will begin by observing the local team and how they are currently working, then making suggestions and helping to set up schemes that will help them improve the work they do. You may be asked to write procedures, manuals or policies and put in place processes.
You will need some skills and an idea of how to use them to join this project. You must be willing and able to pass knowledge on to the organisation and its staff. People with the following skills will be very useful: I.T. / computer programming, web design, marketing and social media, accounting, international development, human rights, women’s rights, grant writing / fundraising or art and photography.
All projects are self-funded, but include accommodation, food, airport transfer and training. Click to apply and a project advisor will be in touch to discuss price and availability, with no obligations.
