Working for a rapidly expanding retailer, this is a newly created role reporting into the CFO and has huge potential for growth.
The role will be varied and interesting and definitely not desk bound.
You will need to be a qualified accountant who has strong technical and audit experience. Experienced gained within a Retail business would be preferable but is not essential.
Firstly, you will take full responsibility and ownership for the internal audit of the business. Currently with 40+ stores and rapidly expanding, you will be required to ensure correct controls and procedures around their cash and stock control are communicated properly, are in place and adhered to. Although each store should all be managed in the same way, you will be required to visit them, working with their management advising on individual improvements and assisting to implement these changes to improve efficiency and reduce loss.
You will also take full responsibility for reviewing the monthly financial accounts, ensuring that they are correct before submission for sign off. You will also oversee the transactional function that is currently outsourced. This includes fully managing the PO system, merchandising costs and services, Payroll, cash & banking. These are currently well managed but you will need to ensure smooth running and integration into the accounts.
You will also be the liaison contact for the management accounts, and manage the company insurance policies.
