The successful candidate will be responsible for providing efficient and proactive 2nd line support in a user-facing environment on a day-to-day basis. On top of user support tasks - such as creating and maintaining user accounts - the role will require supporting and troubleshooting software and hardware, as well as network infrastructure, general maintenance and upgrades. You will also be responsible for maintaining back office systems and supporting associated technologies such as printers, scanners and phone systems.
The role also involves in maintaining and managing the Linux servers that support the organisations web based applications. The role also involves assisting in some minor PHP development for the organisations applications, so an interest in this area would be an advantage. The successful candidate will also be assisting in providing training to all levels of users and will produce suitable training material for this purpose.
Working alongside the IT Manager, this role offers the prospect of implementing interesting IT projects as well as developing your IT skills in a busy and varied environment. It is a good opportunity for someone looking to further their career in a challenging and varied role.
The ideal candidate for this role should have at least 3 years' experience in an IT Support role and have good knowledge of Windows, especially Windows 7 and good networking skills. You should also have experience with managing and maintaining Linux servers. To be considered for this role you should have proven experience of 2nd line support and be organised, proactive and driven.
