Grade/Salary: P04, £38,229 - £40,911
You will work within a team providing professional lift engineering services to maintain the council’s Housing lift portfolio to provide a reliable, safe and efficient lift service. You will be responsible for producing performance specification for the modernisation and upgrading of lifts together with procurement of contracts and project management. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance term contract in ensuring that lifts are maintained to the highest standard in meeting the performance requirement in the contract.
You must have a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 in mechanical / electrical engineering discipline together with proven experience gained as a lift fitter or service engineer. You will be required to undertake post inspections of completed works; carryout feasibility studies, condition surveys and provide sound advice to client officers on all lift matters.
You should have significant experience and understanding of lift regulations BS EN81, CDM regulations and the Health and Safety regulations applicable to lift installations.
You will need to have experience of valuing works, approving payments to contractors and managing budgets for capital and revenue projects.
You will also need an understanding of the Council’s statutory requirements to consult with leaseholders about works to be carried out.
You must possess good communication skills verbally and in writing with the ability to compile reports and letters in a concise and easy to understand language. Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical person in a simplistic manner is essential.
You will be able to use IT packages, repair databases, and have the ability to work outside normal hours where necessary to deal with emergencies.
