My client, based in the North West of England specialise in cutting edge data centre solutions and storage technologies, they need an experienced Electronics Engineering Manager to lead the team and provide Technical Management.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Providing Strategic direction and leadership
- Developing and implementing design and verification methodologies and processes
- Demonstrating the cross-functional leadership necessary to insure that all hardware engineering deliverables are complete and delivered on time with high quality
- Ensuring continuous improvement in team capability, and productivity
- Organizing, prioritizing, and managing logistic and resource allocations for multiple projects
- Prioritizing tasks to meet schedules and deadlines
- Proactively developing methodologies to resolve issues
- Guiding design engineers to encourage professional technical development
- Managing performance and development of team members
- Establishing goals and conducting performance appraisals
- Providing guidance, support and mentoring to hardware design engineers
- Contributing to headcount analysis and hiring decisions
- Working with other functional areas to identify and drive continuous improvements throughout the design to manufacturing process
- Coordinating characterization, compliance testing and agency pre-certifications for hardware and systems
- Providing technical and continuation support (e.g. failure analysis, questions, etc.) to any internal or external customer as part of hardware development
- Provision of hardware support and knowledge to architecture and other R and D functions
- Maintenance of good communication, documentation, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
- Adherence to established Safety policies and procedures, recognising and resolving safety or environmental issues, including assistance to develop appropriate procedures and documentation
Experience:
- Experience in managing highly skilled hardware design teams
- Delivering hardware solutions to complex products
- Familiarity with Project planning and resource management
- Track record of driving improvements in processes and technical capabilities within a team or group
- Familiarity with taking designs into production, including development of manufacturing tests
