Slough Community Leisure Ltd (SCL) is a Leisure Trust established in 2000 offering incredible leisure and event venues, aimed to promote health and wellbeing in the local communities, in partnership with the Slough Borough Council. This partnership has gone from strength to strength and has led to some exciting improvements to services within Slough.
Its facilities include six fitness centres, two swimming pools, three sports halls, and a community events venue. In addition there are two indoor karting tracks, a tenpin bowling centre and an ice arena running through its subsidiary charity Absolutely Leisure.
Become a Trustee at SCL
The SCL Group manages eleven venues within the Thames Valley which offer Fitness Gyms and Sports facilities together with entertainment and events offerings. Their charitable purpose allows them to offer affordable prices, subsidised activities to target groups and direct support to other charities.
The organisation is looking for a Trustee with Digital Marketing Expertise.
The Board would welcome applications from anyone with skills that will contribute to the charity. Following a recent skills audit of Board Members, they have identified particular knowledge gaps in the areas of marketing and the new strategic health service structures.
The new Trustee needs to demonstrate genuine belief that health and well-being are improved through physical activity. He/she needs to demonstrate how digital marketing can help promote our service. It would be an advantage if the trustee had an understanding of operating within the charity.
The culture of the Trustee Board is described as mutually supportive, offering a range of skills and experience. It is seeking a new member able to offer digital marketing knowledge as many of our services are promoted through websites and social media. The charity is growing and while it is developing, the Trustees have a role in advising the executive team and championing the charity’s purpose.
As a Trustee at Slough Community Leisure, you would:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of a fast growing leisure charity working in the Thames Valley
- Gain experience of the leisure and charity sectors
- Contribute to the charity’s purpose and influence the health and wellbeing of our local communities
Work in a mutually supportive environment that allows you to share your specialist knowledge or experience amongst fellow Board Members and help shape the charities future
The organisation is looking for someone with some or all of the following skills and attributes:
- The successful incumbent would desirably have prior board level experience
- Website Creation, Graphic Design, Social Networking
- Advertising and Communication, Events, Market Research, Fundraising, Sales, Public Relations
- Marketing Strategy and Research
Trustees meet six times a year in Slough for meetings that last between two and three hours. Providing more time is not essential but expert assistance would be very welcome
