Exciting Opportunity, Randstad Education are working in conjunction with a school based in Burton on Trent to recruit a reliable and enthusiastic full time teacher to work with children who have challenging behaviour for a September start.

The Job:

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified teacher (with QTS) and will have taught children within a similar role. You will be responsible for a class of 3 to 4 children and will be their full time teacher throughout the year. You will be required to teach a range of subjects which you will need to plan and tailor to each child's level and ability. The school provide sufficient support for each child in the form of teaching assistants as well as care staff, however a Team Teach qualification would be an advantage (but not essential).

The School:

Based within a rural location the school provides a calm learning environment as well as residential facilities for some students but not all. The school has recently been graded outstanding by ofsted and has a real team feel with all staff working very closely together ensuring students are provided with a seamless education and residential environment. The school work towards ASDAN Awards so previous experience of teaching this would be an advantage.

The Child:

The children within the school all have challenging behaviour as well as additional learning difficulties and in some cases complexed communication difficulties. Some children learn using makaton and symbols therefore previous experience of teaching with this learning tools would be advantageous but not essential. The school caters for students from the age of 8 through to 19 and children enter the school at different levels however tend to be below the average ability for their age.

This role will be challenging but extremely rewarding and the successful candidate will work within a supportive environment whilst making a difference to these young peoples lives with a full team approach.
