Harrington Starr are working with a leading financial services firm who have an urgent requirement for a skilled and experienced Oil & Energy Business Analyst to join their London office.
You will work with the OTC Derivative broking desks to deliver technology solutions to enhance their business process.
To understand the technology and data flow of the current systems delivered to these broking desks.
Analyse, specify and deliver improvements and upgrades to existing systems, including managing the request for Change process and adhering to our internal enhancement processes.
Understand, articulate and define the benefits that will be delivered by a given technology initiative or change.
Requirements Management and change control
Define and manage JIRA tickets for enhancements and defect together
Manage multiple technology priorities across multiple technologies
Manage the requirements process for the projects including interaction with BA, Testers, Data management teams
Turn business requirements into detailed specifications for software.
Define requirement scope and baseline requirement documentation
Communicate to the project team on a regular basis by delivering progress reports both written and verbally
Coordinate and manage requirements capture, and review workshops with multiple stakeholders.
Set and continually manage requirements delivery expectations with team members and business users
Communicate with the wider technology teams to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues
Resolve detailed queries from development and testing teams.
Liaise with Test Management to Develop testing strategies
Ensure that business requirements and test cases and scenarios are comprehensive and can be traced all the way through the project lifecycle.
Development and management of the UAT process
Testing of new releases.
Skills and Qualities :
Energy and Oil market knowledge
Financial product knowledge for Derivative products
Straight through processing (STP)
Ability to demonstrate products to internal and external teams
Business Analysis qualifications (ISEB, Dip BCS) an advantage
Proven analysis skills with electronic trading platforms.
Proven track record in business analysis from a trading room environment.
Ability to take the basic business requirements and come up with full technical solution.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Project, Visio.
Experience of JIRA an advantage.

Financial markets experience in the products above
Software deployment experience
Demonstrated experience in Software Development Project analysis
Experience in developing IT based SDLC projects from start to finish
Experience of multi system projects
Experience of multi-vendor projects
Experience in software deployment projects
5 years IT experience as a business analyst in financial institutions.
Demonstrated experience in working with off shore external software suppliers and test partners.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Able to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem solving capabilities.
Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
Flexible during times of change
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Effective time management / planning, manages personal and team workload effectively, sets realistic and achievable targets and delivers to those targets
Communication, able to provide documentation that is clear and precise, able to communicate in a clear and concise manner to both internal business users and external customers.
