School Science Technician/Laboratory Assistant to support the science department.
The ideal candidate will have
Experience as a science technician or laboratory technician in a school or college
A degree in a science subject
Experience of working with children or teenagers ( minimum experience 3 months in the last 2 years)
A clear criminal record
Setting up equipment for practical lessons
Keeping the Science Laboratory tidy
Preparing solutions and chemical compounds for practical lessons
Supporting the teacher and students in the class
Supporting students in small groups with science knowledge
Adhering to health and safety regulations.
The school is a successful 11-16 school with a strong tradition at GCSE, outstanding pastoral care and guidance and a united senior leadership team. The focus on success in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, but recognise the need for students to do well across all areas. The School is situated close to the Pennines and ten minutes from junction 20 of the M62. In July 2009 and again in November 2011, OFSTED judged achievement and standards across the school to be good. The school operate clear expectations for all staff and all students with a transparent discipline and rewards system.
The large over subscribed school attracts students from the North and central Rochdale area . It is a true comprehensive with students coming from a range of backgrounds. A large number of students speak Urdu and Gujarati as a first language. Parental support is good with ambitious students aiming for further study in college and university
