Kelly Clarkson and Jess Glynne Reveal Female Heroes in International Women's Day Video

Kelly Clarkson and Jess Glynne have named their personal female heroes as part of an inspiring video for International Women’s Day.

The video features 30 female celebrities and was created by leading humanitarian charity CARE as part of its new #HerInHERO campaign, which aims to celebrate women around the world.

Each person in the film is asked to respond to the question: “Who puts the ‘her’ in ‘hero’ for you?”

Clarkson, 36, names her mother in the video: “She had no education other than high school and just really worked her tail off and made something of herself, and she became an incredible teacher”.

The Big Bang Theory actor Mayim Bialik, meanwhile, names her hero as Sally Ride, who, in 1983, became the first American woman in space.

Glynne chooses her great aunt, while other well-known heroes mentioned in the film include Dolly Parton and marine biologist Sylvia Earle.

Other famous women featured in the video include actors Allison Janney and Sophia Bush, models Iman and Iskra Lawrence and esteemed tennis player Billie Jean King.

International Women’s Day takes place on Friday 8 March. Find out more information about the day here.
