Southampton stunned Tottenham at St Mary's to give themselves a major boost in the battle to avoid relegation.

Harry Kane scored Spurs’ opening goal as the visitors dominated the first half, but with they were made to rue a series of missed chances.

Southampton came out in the second half as a team transformed and turned the match on its head.

Goals by Jan Valery and James Ward-Prowse in the space of five late minutes – the latter a stunning free-kick for the second weekend in a row – saw Saints clinch all three points.

The result pulls Spurs right back into the mix for the top four, with Arsenal and Manchester United playing at the Emirates tomorrow.
