Full list of Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2019 winners as Andrew Scott scoops best actor

Maggie Smith and Ian McKellen also triumph at 65th ceremony recognising excellence on stage

Andrew Scott, Dame Maggie Smith and Sir Ian McKellen were among the big winners at the 65^th edition of the Evening Standard Theatre Awards on Sunday night.

Smith gained her fifth Best Actress award for her performance as Goebbels's secretary in A German Life, pipping Hayley Atwell, Cecilia Noble, Juliet Stevenson and Anjana Vasan to the post.

The ceremony, which was held at the London Coliseum, was hosted by the owner of the Evening Standard, Evgeny Lebedev, with co-hosts Anna Wintour, Damian Lewis, Helen McCrory and Cush Jumbo.

Awards were presented by Olivia Colman, Naomi Scott, Lashana Lynch, Taron Egerton and Ruth Wilson, among other industry figures.
